Project Description

Fish farmers in Oto-Awori LCDA are facing the problem of poor growth of fish owing to poor hatchery/fingerlings production and management practices. Some of the problems include poor knowledge, water quality and disease management leading to high mortality rate. This has affected the productivity and income of farmers in this area.

As growing Non-Governmental Organization, Launch Out Now Foundation (LONF) passionate about improving farmers knowledge with the aim to expose the farmers to best practices collaborated with Winrock International to organized a train-the-trainer progrmme on Fingerling Production and Management to increase fish production and boost food security in Oto-Awori Lagos State.

The hybrid training had the International facilitator Professor Joe Sullivan (USA) that joined on line while the National facilitator Dr. Oladosu (Nigeria) present at the training venue. The Fifty (50) participants present at the training were drawn from farmers group of women, men and youths in Oto Awori LCDA of Lagos State

The LONF training when adopted by the participants will enhance fingerling production and management skills of women, men and youth in Oto Awori increase efficiency in production, improved nutrition, improved income and food security
